Chris Gill BSc BVMS MRCVS GPCert(SAS)
Chris joined Family Friends Vets as Director in June 2011, bringing a wealth of experience in small animal surgery and practice leadership.
After graduating from the University of Glasgow in 1994, he worked across a variety of practices in the East Midlands, taking on both permanent and locum roles. During this time, he earned his General Practice Certificate in Small Animal Surgery, allowing him to perform more advanced procedures that would typically require referral.
Before launching Family Friends Vets with his wife Subo, Chris was Clinical Director at a busy practice in Ashby de la Zouch. His focus is on delivering high-quality care with a personal touch.
Outside of work, Chris is a passionate runner—he completed three marathons in 2023 and has three more planned in late 2025/2026. He also enjoys reading, DIY projects, and spending time with his family, including their daughter Ahrani and their five rescue pets: two dogs and three cats.
Subodhini Gill BVSc MRCVS GPCert(SAM)
Subo graduated from the University of Sydney in 2004 and originally came to the UK for a two-year adventure—but quickly fell in love with the country and decided to stay. She spent her early career working in the Midlands, where she was the lead vet for several local animal charities.
In 2011, Subo and her husband Chris took the leap and bought Family Friends Vets, driven by a desire to run a practice that put pets and their people first. She earned her General Practice Certificate in Small Animal Medicine the following year, allowing her to take on more complex medical cases—something she’s deeply passionate about.
Outside of work, Subo enjoys cooking, caring for her elderly parents, and spending time with her daughter Ahrani. Her constant companion is Ellie, a devoted Bichon Frise and rescue who’s never far from her side.
Durshant Somaskantha BVSc MRCVS
Durshant joined Family Friends Vets in 2023 after graduating from the University of Bristol. Since then, he’s become an integral part of the team, known for his thoughtful approach and commitment to delivering excellent care.
He has a special interest in internal medicine and takes pride in working up complex cases to a high standard. Durshant also has a growing passion for cardiology and hopes to specialise in the field as his career develops.
His dedication to veterinary medicine has already earned recognition—he won first place for his case presentation at the UK ECC Vet Congress in 2022 and was a finalist for Undergraduate of the Year for Innovation in 2017.
Outside of work, Durshant enjoys playing football, running and spending time with his partner and their dog, Woody – a beautiful Bichon Frise.
